In 1847, Werner von Siemens constructed the pointer telegraph and laid with this invention the cornerstone of his company. Twenty-five years later, Siemens' cooperation with China began, as Siemens supplied in 1872 the first pointer telegraph to China. In 1904, Siemens opened its first representative office in Shanghai which was at this time the largest overseas subsidiary of Siemens. To date, Siemens in China has established more than 40 companies, 28 regional offices and over 21,000 employees. Siemens Business Communication
Systems Ltd. (SBCS) was founded jointly by Siemens AG, Siemens (China) Ltd., Shanghai Xin Guang Telecommunication Factory and Ai Jian Corporation in 1993.
