In 1847, Werner von Siemens constructed
the pointer telegraph and laid with this invention the cornerstone
of his company. Twenty-five years later, Siemens' cooperation
with China began, as Siemens supplied in 1872 the first pointer
telegraph to China. In 1904, Siemens opened its first representative
office in Shanghai which was at this time the largest overseas
subsidiary of Siemens. To date, Siemens in China has established
more than 40 companies, 28 regional offices and over 21,000

Systems Ltd. (SBCS) was founded jointly by Siemens AG, Siemens (China)
Ltd., Shanghai Xin Guang Telecommunication Factory and Ai Jian Corporation
in 1993.
