Mobility Collaboration for Enterprises Today

November 2005

On November 29th 2005, Siemens Business Communication Systems Ltd. (SBCS) has introduced a wide portfolio of latest enterprise communication applications at the Total Business Solutions – HiPath Customer Conferences 05, which build a visionary picture of mobile collaboration for enterprise customers in China. All these 2nd-Generation-IP (2gIP) enabled solutions and applications, such as the enhanced intelligent communication software – HiPath OpenScape, the exciting Cyber TV for hotel rooms, and the next generation of WLAN solution, enable enterprises to greatly benefit from the highly mobile workforce to enhance productivity with better business value.

In today’s business world, enterprises are attaching more and more importance to the mobility of the employee, as well as the efficient and communication at anytime and anywhere. The survey of Wall Streets Journal 2004 suggests that 66% of enterprise employees will travel in 2006 (up 50% in 2004), and 47% of corporations (SME) support remote working.

The CIO and IT managers are facing increasing demand from the employees, mainly because the legacy IT/Telecom infrastructure and applications are no longer matching well with nowadays’ business requirements, which are much faster, more flexible and time critical than yesterday. According to the Berland Survey of 1700 Enterprise commissioned by Siemens Communications, the top employee frustration mainly comes from: (1) They must leave multiple messages in different places (67%); (2) They often suffer from decision-making delay because colleagues fail to respond on time (65%); (3) Not able to locate the right colleague at the right time (59%).

Designed to solve the frustrating business communication for enterprises today, HiPath OpenScape is a groundbreaking communications solution that elevates the functionality of voice and data applications and allows the full potential of IP Communications to be realized for the first time. Through a unique presence-based communications engine, HiPath OpenScape offers a powerful suite of applications that will drive the next business productivity revolution. The solution offers users a single communications portal (or command center) to control when, how, and with whom they are available to communicate at all times. This not only boosts the productivity of iWorkers and iTeams, but also eliminates frustration and stress.

The new generation of HiPath WLAN solution is delivering unprecedented enterprise mobility to China market. HiPath Wireless provides an architecture built for the unique requirements of converged voice and data applications running on a unified wireless network. These applications are delivered on a solid foundation infrastructure engineered for superior mobility, performance and security, especially for real-time applications like voice and video. By delivering real world applications on a network architecture designed for mobile business, Siemens transforms WLAN from a promising technology to an essential part of an enterprise’s IT infrastructure.

This year, Siemens adds another exciting building block to the industry-renowned HiPath Hospitality Solutions – Cyber TV for hotel rooms. This new feature offers guests a wide selection of superior in-room entertainment & real-time information services results in: creating more revenues per room, providing enjoyable viewing experiences and optimizing operational efficiencies – all these mean a higher and more stable guest loyalty and additional revenue stream for hoteliers. HiPath Hospitality Solutions can be deployed over a mix of different infrastructures, from classical TDM to full IP, from wired to wireless.

Siemens also brings mobility into the areas of contact centers and command & control centers. With tailor-made solutions running on secure and reliable 2gIP HiPath networks, customer service and emergency management can be lifted to the next level.

Mr. Michel Feijen, the Product Marketing Director of SBCS says, “Mobility is becoming one of the most crucial and practical issues that CIO or IT managers need to address right now. However, making your bizz mobile is not only a matter of selecting the right technology and products. Siemens is fully prepared to offer the right mobile solution and provide you with the services needed for a successful implementation.”
